10° pezzo del disco e title track.

La furia della battaglia.. I Pitti che combattono, contro i romani per riprendere il loro territorio. Le strane e mistiche nebbie che avvolgono la zona, L’odio dei Vermi della Terra riversato sui Romani..

Cold is the steel I have by my side
It soon will by red stained with blood

Freddo è l’acciaio che porto al mio fianco e rosso di sangue presto sarà. La brama di vendetta di Bran è fortissima..

 

The earth is shaking nothing of human
Hate is growing inside of me
I hear the screams behind the fog
I fling the steel with no mercy

 

La terra trema (a causa dei vermi della terra) e l’odio cresce..

Tutta questa scena di battaglia sul romanzo non esiste, è una nostra aggiunta per raccontare l’indole da guerriero di Bran, la sua voglia di riscatto, e l’odio verso Roma.

Da questo momento, nella parte piu cupa del pezzo, sono i vermi della terra a prendere la scena (grazie alla voce di Giuseppe Orlando):

I vermi.. per generazioni esiliati nel sottosuolo ora hanno la possibilità di vendicarsi della razza che li ha sottomessi e scacciati..

I vermi ribadiscono la natura maledetta del patto tra loro e Bran..

L’ira dei vermi si scaglia sui romani inermi.. Tutto il loro odio.. Per compiere il destino di Bran..

Bran ritorna sulla scena, mostrando il suo ingresso in battaglia, tra i morti intorno a lui..

Gridando il proprio odio al vento..Tra i bagliori delle spade, e gli schizzi di sangue che lo accecano..

Running through the people dying all around me

Flash of blades and gloam of blood around are blind my
Attacking , kill and screaming all my hate to the wind

 

No, pietà non avrò finche la tua testa sotto terra finirà.. Questa scena in realtà è un flashback di Bran che porta a prima della morte di Tito Silla..

No , mercy I’ll have not
Not until your head will be buried underground
And I will scream Titus Silla is dead
And this was his heart
From now on I’ll rule Caledon

 

Questo è uno dei brani piu vecchi di worms of the earth.. Lo scrivemmo diversi anni prima. Ed ha un montaggio molto cinematografico dal punto di vista di legame tra testo e musica. Tutto il concept è stato pensato e scritto con questi continui salti, come una sceneggiatura cinematografica.

Questo pezzo prima di essere registrato da Giuseppe Orlando ha visto diversi batteristi dietro le pelli. E’ stato il pezzo che ha contribuito alla scelta poi di Piero Arioni come drummer ufficiale della band.

Un aneddoto divertente è quando provammo in sala prove questo pezzo con David Folchitto , batterista degli Stormlord. Il pezzo divenne cosi veloce che durava 3.40.. un minuto in meno.. 🙂
